You might find the next few weeks way more emotional, thanks to the planetary shift of Mercury entering sentimental water sign Cancer.
If you’re currently noticing your emotions are on a high – and it’s definitely not that time of the month, either – you can blame it on astrology. Communication leader Mercury officially entered intuitive Cancer on May 28, encouraging us to feel ALL the feels.
“Emotions will be on overdrive and it’s important to let the tears flow if you’re feeling overwhelmed,” astrologer Natasha Weber tells body+soul.
Until around early August when Mercury finally exists Cancer, you should “expect lengthy conversations with friends and family about mental health and coping mechanisms.”
“When these two forces combine, you’ll want to open up and talk about your feelings,” Weber explains. It’s over the next few weeks where you’ll need to show extra support to those in need, and regularly check in with loved ones and attend to their emotional needs.

You’ll want to flag July 8. This day will be the most difficult in transit as Mercury clashes with Mars, the planet of war.
“With Mars at home in outspoken Aries and Mercury in sensitive Cancer, clashes of opinions are possible on this day. Being compassionate and mindful about how you speak to people is key.”
It’s also crucial you check in with your water sign loved ones – Cancer, Scorpio and Pisces – who will be heavily affected by an “emotional tidal wave” with Aries, Librans and Capricorns playing the role as their supporters.
But don’t worry, it’s not all doom and gloom. The key to making the most out of this time is to be “brave enough to be vulnerable in expressing your feelings.”
“Increasing intimacy and understanding in all types of relationships are some of the benefits with Mercury in Cancer,” Weber says. It’s especially important you keep a close eye on June 5 when Mercury makes a harmonious alignment with Chiron, the healing asteroid.
“This would be a great time to give or receive closure, forgiveness and acceptance.”
But most importantly, use this planetary shift to focus on the mental health of yourself and others, especially with the current global health crisis.
“Don’t forget to tell your nearest and dearest that you love them. Now more than ever, they need to hear that.”
