As everyone keeps reminding us, we’re currently living in unprecedented times. Between those constant reminders and the actual scariness of life in the age of COVID-19, it’s safe to say that a lot of us are struggling with our mental health and wellbeing at the moment.

Fortunately, there are some more creative ways to cope – and one of them is through a ‘well being’ course taught by an Ivy League college in America.

Stuck at home in quarantine? Keep your mind and body healthy with the best yoga mats for every budget, then get around the trend of iso-baking.

Yale’s “The Science of Well Being” is a 19-hour course that delves into the secrets of finding true happiness. And in excellent news, it’s available for free via Coursera, a mobile and online platform that offers over 4,200 courses, 430 specialisations, 30 certificates and 19 degrees from a bunch of reputable universities and industry partners.

The course, which you can complete online, is adapted from “Psychology and the Good Life”, which was introduced at the prestigious college in 2018. Taught by psychology professor Laurie Santos, it quickly became the most popular course at Yale, with one in four students having taken it.

Late last year, it was developed into a podcast called “The Happiness Lab” – but now it’s available online at Coursera so literally anyone from anywhere can take part.

According to the website, over the duration of the unit, “you will engage in a series of challenges designed to increase your own happiness and build more productive habits”.

“The Science of Well Being” debunks the myths around the topic, moving past common misconceptions to instead focus on the things in life that lead to true, lasting happiness. Sounds pretty good to us.

If you’re intrigued, the course can be found here. You can start instantly, set your own deadlines to suit your schedule (wellbeing is about balance, after all) and at the end of it all, you’ll get a certificate.

Plus, you can tell people you *technically* studied at Yale. Minus the epic student loan.
