Instagram’s game-changing new feature aims to help people struggling with their mental health during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Our mental health has been heavily affected by the current coronavirus pandemic, which is why Instagram has just launched a new feature to help us through this time of heightened anxieties.
Labelled Guides, the feature aims to enable its users to easily discover recommendations, tips and other content from creators, public figures, organisation and publishers with a focus on wellness and mental health-related content.
Topics include tips on dealing with anxiety, depression or loneliness, coping with grief, and even ways to handle discrimination as a result of COVID-19.
“We know many people are struggling due to the COVID-19 pandemic, so we are first focusing Guides on wellness content,” an Instagram blog post reads. “We’ll enable creators to connect with expert organizations to share resources during this time, including tips on how to look after your well-being, maintaining connection with others or managing anxiety or grief.”

“Through this, young people can easily access our collection of resources and tips that they can use to build and maintain a healthy headspace, which we know is particularly important during this time,” said headspace CEO Jason Trethowan.
Instagram users will be able to go to the profiles of participating organisations and public figures to tap the middle icon to view Guides. The feature will also be added to the Explore tab in the coming weeks.
Guides can also be shared via a users’ Stories or Instagram Direct messages.
